Bailes eighth in Mike Duvall Memorial at Cherokee Speedway
Heading to his home track on Friday afternoon, Ross Bailes made the short trip to Cherokee Speedway (Gaffney, S.C.) with the Norm Nichols team for the first night of the annual Mike Duvall Memorial with the Southern All Stars.
With 32 Late Models signed in, Bailes qualified a strong third-quickest before getting caught up in a wreck during the 30-lap main event. He was scored 18th in the final rundown.
Looking for a better run on Saturday night, Ross started the 50-lap main event from the second row after recording the second-fastest lap in his group. With a $12,000 payday on the line, Bailes was running fourth before mechanical issues forced him to pull to the pits. Bailes returned to the track and rallied to finish inside the Top-10 in eighth.
