Eldora Million and Dream bring Bailes to Ohio

With the 124-car field split into two groups for a pair of $12,000-to-win preliminary features, Ross laid down the eighth-fastest time in his 62-car group but was involved in a tangle in his heat that dropped him into the B-Main. Needing to place or better to make the A-Main, Bailes logged a 12th-place finish.

Later Thursday evening for heat races leading up to the Eldora Million finale, Bailes’ ninth-place finish in his heat race relegated him into the B-Main for one last chance at the $1,002,022-to-win. He passed six cars in the 20-lapper but fell of short of transferring with a 12th-place outing.

On Friday as the 28th annual Dirt Late Model Dream got underway with a pair of prelims, Ross recorded the fourth-fastest in his qualifying group but retired on the ninth lap of his heat, sending him into one of four consolation events. Rolling off on the eighth row, Bailes marched forward seven spots but failed to transfer into the 25-lap prelim.

Starting in eighth in his heat race on Saturday night, Bailes faded back to a 13th-place outing, bringing an early end to his weekend.
