Bailes finds luck in Ultimate SE action at Lavonia Speedway

Making his lone start over the Fourth of July weekend, Ross Bailes ventured to Lavonia Speedway (Lavonia, Ga.) on Friday afternoon to return to the driver’s seat of the Billy Hicks-owned No. 79 Longhorn Chassis Late Model for the Max King Memorial. With the fastest lap in the 17-car field placing him on the pole for the A-Main, Bailes paced the field for the first 23 circuits until Payton Freeman snuck by on the 24th lap. Inheriting the lead on lap 32 when Freeman slowed with a flat tire, Ross raced to his fourth win of the season over Ethan Wilson, Cla Knight, Kenny Collins, and Nick Schlager. He pocketed $4,000 for his ninth career Ultimate triumph.
