Bailes Sails to Victory in Season Opener at Cherokee

Ross Bailes visited Cherokee Speedway (Gaffney, South Carolina) on Sunday afternoon to kick off the 2020 season with the Drydene Xtreme DIRTcar Series sanctioned contest. In a field of 14 cars, Bailes broke the previous track record in time trials before capturing heat race victory. Earning the second-starting position for the A-Main, Ross bolted into the lead on the drop of the green flag and led wire-to-wire to claim his first win of the season. Taking the checkers ahead of Casey Roberts, Johnny Pursley, Chris Madden, and Zack Mitchell, Bailes pocketed a $5,000 payday. (H3 Photography | Blake Harris photo)
