Ross Bailes Begins Lucas Oil Reopening Tour at Golden Isles

Making his 2020 debut behind the wheel of the Lamm Autosports No. 1B Big River Steel Late Model, Ross Bailes traveled to Golden Isles Speedway (Brunswick, Ga.) on Tuesday evening for the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series (LOLMDS) Reopening Tour. With 43 cars on hand for the Optima Batteries Golden Isles Nationals, Ross timed in 11th fastest in his qualifying group before placing eighth in his heat race. The following night for another $7,000-to-win A-Main, Bailes posted a ninth place finish in his heat, transferring him into the B-Main for one last shot at the show. Failing to place third or better, Ross’ night was over.

For the final round of the Golden Isles Nationals on Thursday, Ross fell one spot short of a transfer position in his heat with a fifth place finish. Scoring a second place spot in his B-Main behind Stormy Scott, Bailes locked into the 19th-starting position for the $7,000-to-win finale. Gaining one spot in the 40-lap affair, Ross Bailes logged an 18th place outing.
