Podium finish in Clash at the Mag opener at Magnolia

Returning behind the wheel of the Lamm Autosports No. 1 Late Model, Ross Bailes made the trip to Magnolia Motor Speedway (Columbus, Miss.) on Thursday evening for the three-day General Tire Clash at the Mag. Drawing 55 Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series (LOLMDS) entries, Bailes laid down the second fastest time in his group behind Frank Heckenast Jr. before picking up a 10-lap heat race victory. After running in second for the majority of the 25-lapper, Ross faded one spot in the closing laps to place third behind Bobby Pierce and Jimmy Owens with Shane Clanton and Tyler Erb rounding out the Top-5. The following night for another $5,000-to-win preliminary feature, Bailes came in fifth fastest in his group before fading back to a sixth place finish in his heat. Needing a second place finish or better in his B-Main to make the A-Main, Ross was an early retiree from his consolation event on the first lap.

With preliminary results on Thursday and Friday night setting the grid for the $15,000-to-win Clash at the Mag on Saturday evening, Ross locked into the 15th-starting position. Losing one spot in the 100-lap affair, Bailes posted a 16th place outing.
