Bailes bags a pair of runner-up finishes with Ultimate SE

On Friday evening Ross Bailes was one of 26 Ultimate Southeast Series entries on hand at Lavonia Speedway (Lavonia, Ga.) for the Charlie Mize Memorial. Recording the third fastest time in his group, Bailes locked into the fifth-starting position for the $4,141-to-win A-Main. Passing three cars in the 41-lap affair, Ross notched a runner-up finish behind Zack Mitchell with Brent Dixon, Chris Ferguson, and Cla Knight rounding out the Top-5. (Caitlyn Cox photo)

1The following night at Cherokee Speedway (Gaffney, S.C.), Ross posted the third fastest time in his group, which positioned him sixth on the starting grid for the A-Main. After challenging race-long leader Chris Ferguson for the top spot following a restart on lap 43, Bailes settled with a second place finish behind Ferguson with Dennis Franklin, John Henderson, and Trent Ivey trailing them to the checkers.
